The end-to-end encryption requirement for WhatsApp requires a “master device,” which seems to stop the kind of seamless messaging you’re getting through Apple’s messaging app and other third-party options. In July, WhatsApp said it was working on next-generation encryption that would enable true multi-device communication without the need to connect to a smartphone. Part of that may include a Dedicated Tablet AppAccording to tweets from WABetaInfo, an account that often reveals previously incoming WhatsApp features.
It looks like the update will be part of a multi-device beta, with both iPads and Android tablets usable as “linked devices” to a WhatsApp account, with a native app.
I am a WhatsApp user. iOS Messages from Apple has never caught my eye, and let’s ignore the Android equivalent. I know I should use the safer and less secure Telegram too, but I always come back to WhatsApp, probably because it took so long to impress my international family and friends via SMS and email years ago.
Besides the web app, which means I can use WhatsApp from my work laptop (sorry boss), it is To keep WhatsApp running smoothly all my life. And it makes it hard to leave the Facebook-owned messaging app, even if you wanted to.
And how to install one.
If you’re keen on expanding the storage space on your PS5, you’ll want to get access to the early beta – which is easy enough – and trust to unlock the new console and quickly install the SSD yourself.
Luckily for you (and me), Executive Editor Aaron Soboris, who knows a lot about hard drives, has done the research and even installed a new SSD, sharing the process with the rest of us.
What did you get, Jim Gere?
If you’re an old gamer, it’s hard not to ignore the Atari Lynx. Although it was the first handheld color console, its small game library (under 100 official titles) and general mishandling by Atari itself earned it little more than a role in gaming history. A few dedicated people still hold a candle to it, however, and new titles are more popular than they were a decade ago. Here are four new games you can play on the original hardware, complete with cartridge and box.

The Pixel 6 should be available soon.
Google just released the excellent and relatively inexpensive Pixel 5a, and the company has taken the opportunity to clean up the house, getting rid of the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G from its online store. In the US Google Store, both phones are currently out of stock, which means that the only Pixel phones currently available are the Pixel 5a (which won’t arrive until August 26) and the Pixel 4a, which doesn’t have 5G.
Google announced the Pixel 5 on September 30 last year, so it seems likely that we’ll get an official release date (and price) for the Pixel 6 sometime next month.
It may run on the same “M1X” processor that is rumored to arrive in the MacBook Pro.
The redesigned Mac mini with the ‘M1X’ chip may arrive in the ‘next several months’. The M1X hasn’t been announced, but it’s been the short cut for the past year or so to a chip that could outperform the M1 currently offered by Apple. This timeline comes from the trusted Mark Gorman at Bloomberg.
Apple is also expected to redesign the Mac mini and add more ports to the mini desktop computer. This Mac mini may be more focused on power users and also likely to cost more than the current models offered by Apple. The company may keep the M1 model as a basic and affordable option.
In addition to the Mac mini, Apple is also expected to introduce redesigned MacBook Pro models this fall.
